Policies & Tips

All delegates and delegations agree to follow the guidelines listed in the Upper Darby High School Student Handbook. In addition to those regulations, there are additional policies delegates agree to follow when attending the conference. Failure to comply with conference policies or Upper Darby High School regulations may result in a disqualification from earning awards.

Conference Policies

  • UDMUN does not permit the use of technology during moderated discussions. Delegates can use approved laptops, Chromebooks, and other devices to create, send, and draft resolution papers when permitted by their Chairs.

  • The use of generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) is strictly prohibited during the conference.

  • Delegates should dress in Western Business Casual. If a delegate is representing a figure or person, they are more than welcome to dress up like them. All attire must follow the UDHS dress code.

Position Paper Policies

  • The use of generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) is strictly prohibited in position papers. If a delegate is suspected of using Gen-AI to generate substantial parts of their paper, they will be disqualified from earning awards.

  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited in position papers. If a delegate is suspected of plagiarizing in their paper, they will be disqualified from earning awards.

Tips

  • Delegates in historical committees are highly recommended to cite sources up to the date of the simulated committee in their position papers. For example, in a committee set in May 4, 1967, it is recommended to use sources up to that specific date

  • When representing an especially divisive figure/country, it is important to remain respectful in discussions. Please do not use language that may cause discomfort or unease in an effort to portray your role as accurately as possible.

Payment

The fee per attending delegate is $15. Checks should be made payable to Marlene Brubaker. All payments are due the day of the conference.
